My templates and the new version of sNews

As one probably know a few days ago a new version of sNews was released (v.1.5.31). At this moment my template packages for version 1.5 contain still version 1.5.30. Because of some important differences between the two versions I have to modify the installation script that's a part of the package.

Unfortunately (well, not for me that is) I'm rather busy at the moment and don't have the time to do it right away. But I will do my best to have this done by the end of next week. Sorry!

As promised

A couple of weeks ago I promised to release my contributions to the template competition of sNews 1.5 at the beginning of 2007. So I worked on them and they are now ready for download and use. I enclosed the latest version of sNews to this templates, so it’s kind of a complete package. For your convenience I also made and enclosed a little script that sets up the tables for the sNews database. I enclosed a ’readme.html’ too, with a sort of ’how to’ guide which make the implementation of sNews a piece of cake (I hope). You can download the zips from the templates-page. Have fun!

Feeling a bit guilty

Several people asked me lately when I will release the two templates I made for the sNews 1.5-competition; I did promised to make them available as soon as the stable version of 1.5 was released didn't I. Well, I have to admit that I have failed to do so until this very moment.

But no fear, I will better my life and start working on them in a very short notice.

Arena. Another free sNews template.

This is another two column, 770px fixed width layout. Below the header image I reserved room for some sticky text. Some people like to have an introduction text on their page, so here you are.

I wanted to call this template 'Arena of Life' because that fits the header image; but when googling that I find out that there is already a website called www.arenaoflife.co.uk. I thought it would not be well-mannered to call my template the same, so I settle for just 'Arena' then.

New free template

This is a new template from www brauck [punt] nl for use with the excellent CMS sNews.

I was inspired here by a design of , a fixed width design with a fixed background. I liked the design in general, but I prefer a centered design, so I reworked it to what it is now.

I took a different approach with regard to the problem of different column heights in a CSS layout. If we build a layout in CSS not using tables, then we have to deal with the fact that DIV's are separate boxes and that they behave totally independent from each other.
